New library – Maranello

Client: Municipality of Maranello (MO)

Year: 2007

Service: Design competition

Existent building structures have been demolished, maintaining the external casing to conserve the actual form. The volume is broken by several cuts. The box has been broken by natural elements as green and light that through the “light tower”, which contains the stairs, open the building penetrating strongly.

The cut divides the building into two opposing sides: the first side is geometrically rigid based on an orthogonal grid and contains the two wings with the reading rooms, which are connected by the archive, which is a kind of hinge. The project is characterized by high flexibility.
